The St. Louis Design Scholarship Fund

The St. Louis Design Scholarship Fund is established to encourage and inspire deserving students regardless of race, creed, sex, or national origin, to pursue a degree in Graphic Communication at St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley and St. Louis Community College-Meramec and to be committed to pursuing a BFA in design from one of St Louis’s undergraduate programs. Students selected to the program will be known as the St. Louis Design Scholars.

Criteria:
1. Student(s) must complete a scholarship application.
2. Student(s) must be currently enrolled at St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley or St. Louis Community College Meramec.
3. Student(s) must have completed 24 credits hours in Graphic Communication Program at St. Louis Community College.
4. Student(s) must have an expressed interest in pursuing a BFA in design from one of St Louis’s undergraduate programs.
5. Student(s) must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and be in good standing.
6. Student(s) will be required to submit a letter of recommendation from a current program instructor or advisor.
*7. If the student is selected to participate in an interview with the scholarship committee, they will be asked to come prepared with a portfolio of work in a scrollable PDF format. *
8. Student(s) must demonstrate unmet financial need as determined by the Financial Aid office under the standard federal needs analysis formula.
9. Preference will be given to historically underrepresented students in the field of design.
10. Student(s) who are selected as recipients of the scholarship will be required to send a note of thanks to the donor as a condition of receiving the award.
11. Student(s) who are selected will be required to meet a designated STLCC mentor, throughout the academic school year
12. Student(s) who are selected must agree to be partnered with an industry mentor and to meet with them virtually, or in person, up to three times over the course of each semester.
